Knotted Up…

knot1

Who said the t-shirt knot went out of style?!!  Certainly, not this girl.  Well, okay, maybe it did for awhile, but it is certainly back.  The best part is, you can even pair it with the correct bottom and make it office appropriate – just avoid showing the middrift, please.  The office is not high school, after all.  A little middrift can be fun though for a Saturday or night out at a show.  This simple style can be worked with so many shirts – I am sure you do not need to go out and buy a new one, just look in your closet and play around.  Now those are the best trends, the ones you can try free of charge, at least if you ask me.

How do you feel about the knotted up look?  Will you be playing with it in your style this summer?

Chvrches…

I am loving this electronic pop band, Chvrches.  This song is called The Mother We Share and is one of their 2012 singles.  Earlier this year, in March, they released their EP Recover and are planning on releasing a LP later this year.  They are coming to Minneapolis this weekend and playing the Fine Line, with tickets still available I might add.  I am actually planning on buying my ticket at the door, unless I can make it to the Electric Fetus sooner to avoid annoying ticket fees.  Live music is always fabulous in my book, but I think this band will especially put on a great show.  Plus, I love the lead singer – she is so cute and has amazing eye make-up.  I highly recommend checking them out, and if you get a chance go to the show because tickets are totally affordable.  If you listen to any of their live recordings, like the one above, you will be able to see that they truly are talented.

Do you ever go to shows where you do not know the band super well?  Whose the best band or artist you ever discovered this way?

Much love,

B

Itty Bitty…

Okay, so it may not be an itty bitty, yellow, polka-dot bikini, but this summer is all about the retro bikinis.  I love that they are not itty bitty.  They are feminine and flattering cuts. What woman doesn’t love having that part of her stomach covered – you know, right below the belly button – the impossible to get completely flat.  These suits have a classy feel to them that would be fabulous to lay out by the pool or stroll down the beach picking up sea shells.  They also would be great for getting in the water and playing around because they are all about full coverage, translation – no worries of any immodest free shows – hey, just being honest, something a gal has to think about when picking out a swim suit.  The best part about this retro style that is all the rave is that it is not limited to the bikini.  Have you seen some of the one pieces?!!  They are SO cute.  Who said less is more?!  When it comes to a swim suit, I prefer keeping a little mystery still (though let’s be honest, kind of hard no matter what suit you chose)…

How do you feel about the retro style suits?  What will you be wearing to the beach this summer?

Color Me Teal…

teal1

The color teal.  It is bold and bright.  Never thought it would be the one to steal my love away, but it has.  I am full blown head over heals for this color.  I love how it looks on everyone – no matter your skin tone or hair color, this color makes a woman pop.  Who knew?!  It started as my accent color in my kitchen and before I knew it, I found myself drawn to it every time I am out shopping.  It looks good in so many fabrics, as well, which means it can be a fabulous color to wear for the office or on a walk around the lakes – and I would know, as I have pieces I have worn in the last week to both of those places.  It is safe to say, this is certainly my color of the summer.

Does teal work with your summer style?  What is your color of the summer?

Feeling Jagged…

jag1

Summer so often can be filled with short shorts or mini skirts – but this summe,r why not spice up that look?!!  I apparently am not the only one feeling this way – whether you want to call it a jagged look or an origami look, a skirt line that is not straight across is all the rag.  I think one thing I love about this trend is that so many of them come in a skort option – talk about perfect for running around all day in the heat.  There is something more free about a skort than a classic mini, am I right ladies?!!  This look is fun and playful, but can also be dressed up for a fun date night – so, when are we going shopping to get this look added to my closet?!!

How do you feel about this trend, lovies?  Feeling a little jagged, yourself?

Watch Yourself…

ff

Oh how true it is – and as the little sister I love that.  There has to be some perk to being picked on by this person for years, right?!!  I love my sister and love that no matter how much shit she will ever give me, I always know she is for me and has my back.  So, watch yourself, y’all.

Do you have siblings?  Do you get along?

Much love,

Five Loves…

photo (3)

This week’s five loves are a little look into my life.  Here are a few of my current favorite things – stripes, arm party that changes daily, green tea soy latte, and having a thought provoking book to read – such a divine moment.

A freshly cleaned back porch with a new table and chairs that only cost me $10!!  And of course, my beautiful model who makes everything better – sweet Willow.

Pretty in pink – lips.  Last night I went to the Pop Sugar event at Anthropologie and had so much fun.  With my purchase I also got this fun new lipstick, and we all know how much I love bright lips!

It has become a full on event – the return of The Bachelorette means the return of girls’ night.  We have a group of seven of us that pile into the living room every Monday night and make the show into a full on sporting event.  It is fabulous and I actually like Mondays because of it.

My freshly cut summer hair.  I got it cut yesterday and was then informed by a friend that meant a selfie was required – so, I figured I should share it with all of you, lovies!  I love how light and free it feels – perfect for a summertime attitude!

Do you change your hair up with the seasons?  Do you do gradual or drastic changes to your hair?

Much love,

Warm Whispers…

ww1

Summer is coming.  Right?!!  It has to – I think.  We have had sweet little warm whispers from time to time that leave me feeling hopeful that all my summer music festivals will be attended in fun flowing summer outfits and not a big puffy parka.  While I have been waiting for the weather to warm up a little bit more, I have been trying to still bring summer to the office by dressing like it is warm outside, within reason of course.  Looking for summer style images is also always helpful for inspiration to remind me that the weather will change – the sun will come back to play…

Is it warm where you are?  Have you been able to embrace summer style?  What is giving you inspiration?

Caught In a Life…

having friends that have good taste in music is pretty much a must in my life.  Not every single one of my friends I can sit around and talk music with, but the ones I can I seriously am so thankful for.  They open me up to new artists and groups all the time that I wouldn’t have found on my own – and then I get to share my findings with them.  It is a beautiful, beautiful thing.  That is what happened with (please disregard the band name) Donkeyboy.  I am loving their album Caught In a Life, especially this first track off the album, Stereolife.  This is a little taste of Danish pop that is all the rave in Norway – they are up for some great awards, and I can see why – they mixing of these beats is fabulous.

How do you experience and discover new music?

Much love,

B
