As a lover of music, especially live music, art and fashion, it is only natural to find myself daydreaming of being at Coachella, right?!! I love the free spirit that this amazing festival seems to draw out of everyone. The bohemian style that covers the grounds is beautiful. Each person has his or her own look that comes together to create an amazing art piece at this one festival. It is beautiful. At least, from what the pictures can show. I seriously need to start saving and planning so I can go next year. I know whoever is playing I will enjoy, since the music that is also played at Coachella is totally my style. I mean look at this year’s lineup – freaking amazing. Now, join me in my daydream and look at some of these lovies…
Have you ever been to Coachella? Or going for weekend two starting tomorrow? Meet me there next year?
Okay, you could say that I am somewhat of a music junkie. You want to go see a show? I am your go to girl so you are not alone. Lucky for me, I live in a city that is full of all sorts of other music junkies and so there are always amazing shows happening here. Last Saturday, I went to see Family of the Year and The Mowgli’s. This was my second time getting to see Family of the Year, but my first time with The Mowgli’s. I seriously fell in love during the show. They were amazing performers, but more than that they were beautiful souls. I could not get over their way of life – as it was so yogic. It certainly was one of the best times I have ever had at a show and I got to share it with my bestie, so it couldn’t have been any better…oh, it could actually. I also got to sing vocals on their song San Francisco, which totally caught me off guard, but I loved every moment of it (I totally wish I was a traveling musician getting to share beautiful music with other lovies). Seriously, check this band out – and not just their music, but also their way of life. Believe in love. It is not dead. So, go share it with others to help make this world a little bit better by one random act of kindness at a time.
What band or bands do you love and also love what they stand for?
Everything about this video, Where the Kids Are, I love. It pulls at my inner hippy free spirit – or as many call my hipster self, either way it makes me happy. Blondfire has a couple other songs you can stream on Soundcloud, which also have a good indie pop sound out of California. I am loving their sound for transitional into the fall, yet still savoring the last few days of summer.
Do you ever have different types of music you are drawn to for certain seasons? What would be your fall genre?
I cannot get enough of Heidi Merrick…especially the Spring 2012 collection. She is a California native and had a father who was a surfer. So, she may not be Australian, but there are still some similar trends between the two that serve as beautiful inspiration. I want to own every piece of the collection for my whole summer wardrobe. I keep getting drawn back in time after time…I guess that is what some would call love. Either way, it is a full on design crush…it has been too long.
Are you totally crushing yet?! What designers are you loving recently?
I absolutely love this look. This has been my favorite go to style for the summer. I even push the limits at work and will find a way to make this work for the whole two or three hours I work on casual Friday (yes, I work long days earlier in the week to justify leaving early on Fridays…I figure it is summer time so why not…).
I may or may not have ripped open my September issue of Vogue and twirled around my house singing, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year…” Yeah, you could say that I pretty much love this issue every year.
I have been obsessing over the Who What Wear office space ever since I saw it over at Erin’s Elements of Style Blog. They are stunning. I would love to work in a space like that – wouldn’t you kill for an office like that?!
I love everything about this room – from the French script on the rug, to the grey walls and perfect accent pieces. I would be a happy lady if this was my master bedroom.
I love this dress. I love this street. Take me back to LA. The days have been long recently at work, and oddly enough I have really been enjoying that, but I am getting tired and would love a little weekend getaway to one of my favorites – LA.
A trend I am loving right now are all these polka dots. From Kate Spade iPhone cases to clutches to beautiful flowy blouses – love when I see those fun spots. There is something fun and retro about them, yet at the same time classic and chic. One of my favorite dresses to wear is a light little sun dress I bought on Melrose while out in LA this past spring. It has small subtle polka dots on it and I always get so many compliments on it. It took me awhile to realize how much I liked this pattern. Then, one day I started looking at the items I was purchasing or being drawn to and it was clear – I am loving polka dots. As an accessory or the main piece in my outfit, I am hooked – well, at least I am for now.
I love how all of these ladies are working the polka dots, but all staying true to their own personal style. That is key with any trend. How do you feel about polka dots? How would or are you working them into your style?
I love everything about this look. It looks so comfortable, yet still so chic. Look at that know – so functional for us short gals, but still so cute. Win.
Yup. I got another pair of TOMS. What can I say – I love them so much. Cute. Comfortable. AND for a good cause.
Pumphouse Creamery. My favorite ice cream shop in Minneapolis, and maybe even in the world. The most unique flavors (lavender being my favorite). Whole wheat with flax seed cones that are to die for. If you are ever in Minneapolis, this little shop on 48th and Chicago is a must – let me know if you are in town. I would love to go with you!
Missing California. Missing the ocean. And wanting to go surfing. Thus, I am stuck in Minnesota so I look at this picture because it makes me smile. I’ll get back there again eventually. I love it too much not to.
You are. So please smile. And also know that I love you so much – thank you for all the sweet wishes to feel better! I am feeling a little better and planning to sleep in some tomorrow morning to give myself some good rest!
Hope you are having a lovely Friday, loves! What are you loving today?
Meet GroupLove. Their EP was released in the US at the end of January. This is Colours performed live at SXSW – the official video is fun, but I love a band that can perform live, so I had to share this with you. I am loving their indie-pop sound. I also love that painting is a part of their musical art. Hannah Hooper, the band’s keyboardist and painter, says “In the fine art world, art writers want to talk about a body of work and what is similar about each piece. They want to say you have a certain language to your work. That holds people back. Their goal became to make a body of work that’s similar. That should never be the goal. The goal should be to make each piece unique. If they can talk to each other, that’s a good thing, but if they can’t, that is also a good thing. That’s our approach to music.” Now, that is my favorite type of musician.
I am loving this little jewelry find on Etsy called Lulu Bug. There is a beauty in the simplicity. I love how the silver is tinted with concrete. They are so beautiful. My only problem is I just do not know which necklace or earrings I want…may have to get a few things. Thought, the first on my list would be the one above – I love the quote (I mean let’s be honest…I am a sucker for a good quote…) and can really resonate with it. Here are some other ones topping my list…
I love that this last one is a set of five intended for bridesmaids. Now, I am not getting married anytime soon, nor do I have my bridesmaids picked out, but I have a feeling this would be a great gift for the ladies standing with my on that special day.
There are so many too choose from, which are your favorites? Are you more of a necklace or earring wearer? Or fan of both?
PS. Love one of the ones pictured – click on it and it will take you that specific item.
Oh my, loves. It is Friday and I am exhausted, but I am not letting that keep me in – are you?! I am so excited to get dolled up and head out to celebrate a dear friend’s big 3-0 with her! I love birthdays – it is just so fun to celebrate friend’s lives and the fact that they were born. Plus, I always love a good excuse to get dressed up – what fashionista doesn’t? Right – my point exactly – we all love it. Now, I will not being wearing a cute little pink party dress – but I just love this Miss Dior Cherie ad and it is fitting for a birthday celebration. I am however thinking I may be inspired by this look…
It is perfect for going out and it reminds me of Cali (which, let’s be honest – I am missing). Plus, it includes the Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania shoes, which I still love. Oh, I am so ready for a night out…funny how a long week and lack of a weekend last week will do that to you…
Do you have any fun plans for the evening? Staying in or going out? Whatever you do, I hope it is fabulous and enjoyable!
