Happy Play Date Weekend…

I am getting out of dodge this weekend. I took a 6am flight out of Minneapolis and headed to Chicago for the weekend to have a fabulous girls’ weekend.  It has been far too long since I left town and as of late I have just needed a break.  So, it may not be a full on vacation, but at least it is a change of pace – and a play date with girlies that I haven’t seen in far too long.

How often to you get out of town?  What is the best way for you to be refreshed?  Any fun refreshing plans this weekend?

Much love,

Five Loves…

Love this fun fall look – and let’s be honest, you have something in French – I am bound to love it that much more.

My little way to make my room feel like home and a sweet little haven to escape to at the end of day – I love making my room smell like the yoga studio.

I love this chair – there is something stunning about the tufted look I cannot seem to get enough of these days.

I love Oliva so much – she is just so stinkin cute!  And loving what she is doing here as she plays with patterns.

A girls’ weekend away, well away for me at least – as I head to Chicago with some of my girlfriends from college.  Cannot wait to get out of town.  It has been a long time coming that I take a little get away – so excited!!

Do you ever have weekend getaways?  Where do you head?

Much love,

Rich Autumn Hues {Olive Green}…

Fall is full of deep, rich hues.  One that seems to make a strong appearance every few years is olive green.  This year it is making a comeback that is stunning.  I love the full richness of olive green jackets.  It has a firm, independent look to it, but still does not lose its femininity.  Olive green also works great in accessories to add a subtle color touch to your look.

Are you jumping on board the olive green obsession this fall?  How are you styling this autumn hue?

Much love,

B

Tell Me…

The album comes out on October 2nd and I cannot wait.  I LOVE Dark Dark Dark so much…especially the song Tell Me.  I can relate to it a little too much right now, so it naturally has been on repeat as of late.  I also have a little hometown pride with this fabulous band because they are right here from Minneapolis, MN.

What is a song you have been listening to recently that you are totally relating to?

Much love,

End of an Era…

I have always been one to fully express myself as I see fit – even if it goes against cultural norms.  I was far more extreme when I was younger, but still have a few ways that I stay true to that even as I approach my late-20’s.  I am not changing who I am, but I am about to remove a part of me – or so it feels.  I guess this is part of growing up – having to say goodbye to some of this expression.  I am going to take out my facial piercings.  It feels weird.  I mean yes, they are an accessory – but an accessory that has been a part of my daily life since I can remember.  However, on the flip side, I feel good about taking them out – it is a sort of cleansing for me as I walk into a new position – start clean and fresh.  And plus, I can still accessorize with other fun sparkly pieces…maybe now that these diamonds are gone I will get lucky enough to get a different diamond in my collection?!  Oh how a gal can dream…

Have you ever changed something about your appearance for a job?  Was it worth it?  Was it hard for you?

Velvety Goodness…

Fall is so good for rich, full textures.  Currently I am loving the warmth and depth of velvet – it adds an amazing dimension to a look.  I also think I love velvet this time of year because it is such a warm texture.  It is a perfect fall texture.  I am totally craving a pair of velvet skinnies – they would be great for casual nights out or a blazer and pumps to wear to the office.

How do you feel about velvet – love to embrace the soft goodness or do you pass on this texture?

Fall in Neutrals…

It may be after Labor Day, but that does not mean everything has to be dark, black and gray.  I love how fall is also a great time to still embrace the neutral tones.  There is this lovely softness about neutrals that adds warmth to a look.  A good neutral blazer or cardigan is perfect to layer on to a look, but not make it look to heavy.

How do you feel about neutrals, especially after Labor Day?

Much love,
