Trending {Minneapolis}…

This past weekend Minneapolis, well really St. Paul and Minneapolis, were full of life and culture.  There was the St. Paul Art Crawl, the drop of Vision the Kid’s new album The Comedown release party, Cliche’s fashion show, and then Behind the Scenes’ event Beauty and Brains.  It was a jam packed weekend of all the latest trends and setting trends.  It actually made me think for a moment the big move might just be across the city…don’t worry, it was a fleeting thought.  But still, it has me loving where I am right now.  I especially loved that the ladies from Behind the Scenes took good care of me and treated me like a queen, while I got some great pieces (including a new angled blazer – love) without taking a big hit on the pocket book – who doesn’t love that?!

What do you love about your city?  How do you discover new parts of your city to keep it exciting to you?

Much love,

The Comedown…

April has been the month of concerts for me and tonight will be no different.  I am off to Honey in Minneapolis to hear one of my friends and favorite local hip hop artists, VTK,  perform.  We will be celebrating the release of Vision the Kid’s new EP The Comedown.  If you are in the Twin Cities area come on out, and if you are not then check out the album here.

Do you like going to concerts?  What is your next show you are excited to go see?

Hope you are having a great weekend, loves!

Much love,

Five Loves…

I clearly have been obsessing over stripes as of late, and this dress is only adding to my obsession.  I pretty much have to have this dress.  So, I was  officially on the hunt for it earlier this week…aka, I just needed to go to J. Crew…it was sold out until June…no worries, I am on the wait list and it will be shipped to me once it is ready!

With thinking about moving…that is right, I am moving in a month and a half to a temporary new home (because the final location is still undecided…but at least this is a step in the right direction)…all I can think about is how I want to decorate my new space.  Now, I do only get a room as I am renting a room from some dear friends – but it is still a new blank canvas I am so excited to play with.

I love fresh flowers – especially tulips in the spring.  They make me so happy.

Throwing my hair up after yoga in a pulled back top knot is one of my new favorite go to hair styles.  Probably because it is fast, simple, and totally out of my way – perfect for after a great workout and your hair is long and freshly washed.

A citrusy gin cocktail?!  Yup, pretty sure I am in love, as that is my favorite realm of cocktail.  You can ask my friends…I have become a gin snob, and I am really okay with it.  I love how light and refreshing it is – great to enjoy for a night out with friends…which I am confident will be enjoyed this weekend at least once.

Do you have a favorite cocktail?  What is your go-to hair style when you do not have time to “do” your hair?  Or do you always do a full blow-out and style?

Keeping it Simple…

Sometimes a classic and simple look is the perfect fit.  There is no way to go wrong with a simple look – okay, maybe you can go wrong, but it is far harder to go wrong with simple than trying something extravagant.  A simple look is my favorite style when I am not feeling like taking a lot of time getting ready, but still wanting to leave the house looking put together.  I also think for these looks the perfect finishing touch is always a bright red lip.  Seriously, it finishes off your look perfectly.

What is your go to outfit when you are not feeling the energy to get ready?  What is your go to lip color?

Love Interruption…

For any lover of The White Stripes, Jack White is by no means new to you.  If you are not sure of who either are, you should do something fast to fix that.  Start here by listening to Love Interruption by Jack White off of his new album release Blunderbuss.  Is an amazing soul rock combination that will have you moving while humming along to the painfully depressing, yet far too easy to relate to lyrics…or maybe that is just me…

What are you listening to today?  Going to go see any of these fabulous artist in concert?

Much love,

The Chic Bag Lady…

For the working ladies, and well even the ladies in school, there is one accessory we have with us every day – our office bag, briefcase, or backpack – whatever you call you fabulous carry all office.  However, too often, I see boring briefcases that were given by the company on all these fabulously dressed women.  And confession, I was one of these women, until finally last week I decided it was time to step up my game and get a classic, yet chic carry all office – and leave the company’s at the office.  Under my desk.  The search took me awhile because finding the right bag with enough compartments to hold everything, yet not look too bulky can be a challenge.  Plus, needing something that works well with the seasons is crucial for a Minnesota gal, as we do have all four here.  While I was shopping I had a pile that looked something like this…

I finally chose a simple classic style that is a deep chocolate brown, almost black, leather with patentent leather snake skin detailing to add a little spice to the bag.  It is comfortable to carry and fits everything – I love it.  I mean I wish I could afford this, but wasn’t sure I could justify the splurge at this point in life…as I am still only in my mid-twenties…

How about you, what do you use for your daily office tote?  Do you think it is worth investing in a fabulous briefcase?  What are the crucial things you look for in the perfect carry all?

In Bloom…

Springtime is always a lovely time.  Everything is coming back to life.  The grass turns green.  The lilac bushes are in full bloom filling the air with their sweet heavenly scent. Wildflowers are starting to pop up and fill the ground with color.  Everything seems to be in bloom – even our clothes this spring.  Everywhere I turn, I see more pedals gracing the patterns of blouses, dress,  and even pants.  This spring the flowers are taking over – and I am loving it.  Flowers have that effect on people, you just naturally smile when you see them – so why not wear them…

How about you loves, are you in full bloom love for floral prints?

Much love,

B

Preppy Chic…

Preppy used to be boring and for the squares.  The fashionistas have taken over and continue to give preppy a makeover, leaving us with preppy chic.  So, whether you are headed to the office or out to the lake for a sunny afternoon this spring – putting on a preppy look makes you look like you are ready for a good time, but still a classy lady.  The key to this look is really accessorizing it well and still sticking true to your personal style – don’t try to be something you are not, make the stripes and collars work for you.

So what do you say loves, are you a fan of preppy chic?  How do you work it into your personal style?

Much love,

B
