With the new year beginning, I wanted to stop and share what is inspiring me with this new beginning. Over the last couple of years I have had a growing love for gold, but now I am all the way in – just look at those gold leaves. So simple, and yet so beautiful at the same time. With each year we grow ad get a little older – styles change and evolve. As I continue to grow in my career, I am finding myself more and more inspired by chic clean looks, versus my past drawn be to a younger more grunge look. Let 2013 be the year of growing in sophistication…
And, I sure wouldn’t mind having one of these to call my own…
What is inspiring you as we head start the new year? Does your style evolve or stay pretty much the same?
Well, my loves, 2012 has ended and 2013 is here. Today, many of us are back at work with the holidays behind us. For 2012 my big thing was wanting to make the big move – and I was able to accomplish that by purchasing my house and even getting to host a fun NYE party there the other night. So, what will it be in 2013?! I am still unsure, but with a little glitter and gold, I say bring it on 2013. I was more than surprised with some of the things that came to be in 2012, so I am excited to see what is next to come.
Do you make resolutions for the new year? What is your’s this year?
Wanted to quick say hi, loves! I am still enjoying some fabulous time off and spending that time today prepping for my NYE party. I have already spilt glitter everywhere (making glitter wine glasses like these – I can totally be DIY…), but who cares – it goes with the theme of the night so it works. Later I will slip into a little sparkle of my own to host this evening. I am actually getting excited – it should be fun combination of people and good food and drinks – makes for a good night to remember.
What are your plans for the evening? Have you been able to enjoy a long holiday weekend?
Who says sparkles are only for the night time?! There seems to be a lovely trend of shining bright all day long – and I am loving the trend. They do not have to be over the top, though if you are feeling so lead – I say go for it, you only live once, after all! Sequins can be worked into your office look in a subtle way to add a fun festive touch to your daily look – there are all sorts of sweaters that have touches of sparkle, which would be a great option for those that are not feeling like embracing the trend head on. Otherwise, I say wear the sequin pencil skirt to the office – rock it with confidence and I am sure you will get compliments.
Would you wear sequins during the day to sparkle all day long?
This look. Now. I must have it and then wear it out. Sparkles meet grunge – I am in love.
Some people love cranberries for Thanksgiving, but I wait to indulge in them until the Christmas season. I love candied cranberries or ones like this embedded into frosting.
A cozy sweater and scarf paired with a hot cup of coffee – now that is the perfect combination if you ask me.
The smell of fresh evergreens is one of my favorites. I get to enjoy it every day when I come home because of the lovely wreath I was given by a dear friend (and my realtor). I have a fake tree, so instead I have a candle that is burning right next to the tree that gives off the scent – it is divine.
I love their style, but even more I love how cute they are together. Someday. Somewhere. Someone. Or so a gal can hope…
Are you a fake or real Christmas tree type of person? What are some of your favorite holiday treats?
Sparkles are fabulous year round, but especially this time of the year with the holidays. On Saturday night I needed to wake up and put on my party face, but was exhausted from a long day – the perfect piece I added was a black sparkle sweater. Adding the little sparkle to my look helped me look more awake. There is something about putting on a little bling that helps brighten up my spirits and feel more awake. I am loving that sparkles are even acceptable at the office, if they are in respectable lengths for skirts.
The sun is shinning, so why not add a little sparkle to shine in the rays?! Sparkles are fabulous for New Year’s, but certainly not limited to then. It is time to throw on some sequins in the afternoon and head to a wedding. I have been looking for a few dresses to wear to weddings this summer and I think at least one is going to need to have a little sparkle. Just look at some of these…simply stunning. I pretty much am in love with every look from Collette Dinnigan’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
How do you feel about wearing sparkles to weddings? Do you get one dress to wear for wedding season? Or do you get a new one for each occasion?
What a gorgeous look for January. Sequins and a sweater – yes, please.
Brussels sprouts. I love them so much. So much, that I go out to get some for dinner by myself for Brussels sprouts at local places and then meet really cute guys. Okay, so I went to one restaurant and met a really cute guy – but hey, a girl has got to start some where. Who knew my love for Brussels sprouts could lead to so much fun?!
A little light reading for the weekend. I seriously have an issue with buying coffee table books – but there is so much beauty in them.
A gimlet. My go-to classic. Simply love this simple joy.
A fresh start – what a beautiful thing about the new year.
…okay, not quite yet, but almost! I am so excited. I am especially excited that I do not have to wear snow boots to my events – this is a big deal for us Minnesota folks (and yes, I said that in as thick of an accent as possible while typing). I have a wedding to go to first and then I will be heading to a fabulous soiree to ring in the new year with some of my favorite people. I hope you all have a fabulous evening and please, please stay safe! We want this to be a fun night to remember…
