The Knit Kid…

Do you ever find yourself getting lost in the world of Etsy and looking for far too long?!  But you seriously can find some super cute stuff.  I recently found The Knit Kid and am loving almost every piece.  I love wearing sweaters, but they are often far too baggy or thick for summer.  These, however, are perfect for a summer night – from being light weight and airy to also fun bright colors.

What do you think, can you rock the summertime knit look?  Or is it still too hot for you?

Much love,

Heartbreaker…

I am loving The Walkmen’s new album Heaven.  It is so good – so dynamic and bigger than anything they have done before.  I especially love this song, Heartbreaker, it is more upbeat and so catchy.  I seriously have been playing it on repeat.

What do you think of The Walkmen?  Do you usually like what bands first come out with, or do you appreciate them as they develop more as artists?

Much love,

Specs On…

There is something about wearing glasses that I love.  Maybe it is the letting my eyes get a break, but I think it is more than that.  They add such a statement to a look.  The right eyeglasses can complete a whole look and really change the feel of an outfit.

The only problem is, if you are needing prescription eyeglasses it can be challenging to find cheap glasses.  However, there is a rising trend of all these great websites with a huge selection of glasses to chose from that are affordable and super fun, allowing you to even grab a few pairs because who really can wear one style all the time?!

My current favorite place to for glasses is at GlassesUSA.com.  They have a great virtual mirror that you can play around with by either loading a picture of your own up or just snapping one quick with your webcam (which is the option I went for because I for some odd reason do not have just a normal picture of myself…).

So, if you have an eyeglasses prescription that is dying to fill a new pair of glasses head over and try a few pairs on!  I am loving the iSee 025 Tortise…

So, it gets even better.  If you are looking for a new pair of glasses, GlassesUSA wants to give you , my lovely readers, a discount!  Here are the deats (it pretty much makes it too good to pass up, right?!):

STOREWIDE OFFER – Take 15% off + get free shipping on your entire order
(orders over $50). Code: FS15
Take 10% off any order of prescription glasses. Code: Blog10

So, what do you say, loves, time for a new pair of specs?!  How many different styles of glasses to you usually like to have to rotate between?!  I’m up to four currently…

Much love,

Design Crush {Heidi Merrick}…

I cannot get enough of Heidi Merrick…especially the Spring 2012 collection.  She is a California native and had a father who was a surfer.  So, she may not be Australian, but there are still some similar trends between the two that serve as beautiful inspiration.  I want to own every piece of the collection for my whole summer wardrobe.  I keep getting drawn back in time after time…I guess that is what some would call love.  Either way, it is a full on design crush…it has been too long.

Are you totally crushing yet?!  What designers are you loving recently?

Milo Greene Takes Me Away…

Last week I went to go see The Civil Wars live in concert again – and it was amazing, as usual!  The even better surprise was Milo Greene opened for them – and dang.  They were so good live.  They are a lovely crew from LA traveling around on this current tour with Joy and John Paul.  The energy they bring to the stage captivates the whole audience, and continues to draw me in as I sit at my desk and listen to them on repeat.  I love this song 1957, the way the male and female vocals play off of eachother to create beautiful music that communicates the deep emotions the take you away when you fall for someone that is worth caring about.  It is definetly worth checking out, and keep checking out more of their music– you won’t be disappointed!

Much love,

Boy & Bear…

If you love Mummford & Sons, The Head and the Heart or The Decemberists, you should listen to Boy & Bear.  I love this song and video for Feeding Line, but this is just the tip of the iceberg of their talent, which you can hear more of on their debut album Moonfire.  Go check them out – the are great for a little release from the hustle and bustle of life.  Oh, and I almost forgot to mention – they are from Australia, so no wonder why I love them!

Much love,

B

Tigers…

The other day a good friend told me to check out this song, Tigers, by The Submarines.  He said, “It’s The Ting Tings + MGMT.”  Right there, I knew I had to check it out and I am so glad I did.  I have been listening to it almost daily since.  It has a great bass line and her voice adds an angelic feel on top.  I am simply loving this little indie-pop duo out of LA.  They by no means are brand new, as they have five albums – so this is just a taste, but don’t let it stop there – go check out more – I know I am glad I have!

Have you found any great music discoveries as of late?

Much love,

Holding Out for a Hero…

Footloose came out this past weekend and yes, I did go see it with one of my girlfriends.  I loved it.  I also loved the soundtrack – specifically this new find out of South Carolina, Ella Mae Bowen.  This is her first single and I can’t wait until we get to hear more.  If you get a chance you should really go see the movie – it is a classic with a modern take.  Would serve as a great midweek break, especially now that it is getting colder…eek!

Have you seen the new Footloose yet?  What did you think?

Much love,

Design*Sponge…

On Monday, I had the privilege of attending the Design*Sponge book signing at Anthropologie on 50th & France (an extremely cute little shopping area in the greater Minneapolis area).  It worked out well for me on timing since I had a 15% off my whole purchase at Anthro to help celebrate my birthday and the event was the day before – so it was the perfect excuse for a shopping date with one of my best friends, Cas, and we even got to enjoy cupcakes while we shopped.  Now, I know the cupcakes were not for me (please, I am not that egocentric), but it was a win win you could say.  Who doesn’t like a delicious fun sized cupcake from time to time?!

I also loved getting to chat with Grace, the founder of Design*Sponge, for a few brief moments.  It was a busy night for her, so Cas and I waited to be a couple of the last ladies to get our books signed.  That gave us a little more time to chat with her.  It was great to hear a little more about how she turned her passion into a career, as well as the persistence it really does take to build a brand.  It took her five years for the blog to take off – that was helpful to hear, as well as encouraging.  She said, “Stay true to what you are passionate about.  Write about what you like and love – and not what you think your readers want.  If you are passionate, the readers will come.”  I am thankful for her words – they were encouraging to keep writing, but to also stay true to me because that will be the best for me and the most interesting for you at the end of the day!  So, if you get a chance, I highly recommend going out and seeing this cute little lady when she comes to a city near you and get your book signed!  I am loving paging through it – so many inspirational images to get the creative juices flowing!

Do you follow Design*Sponge?  Have you gotten to go to the book signing or are you planning on it?  Who is your favorite design blog?

Much love,

How Does She Do It?!

Sarah Jessica Parker.  I have loved her for years.  Yes, I for a very long time referred to her simply as Carrie, but she has proven to be so much more than that one amazing role that changed the face of fashion.  Carrie gave many women some one to relate to.  Sarah Jessica Parker gives far more women some one to be inspired by.  She is starring in a movie to be released September 16th in the States titled I Don’t Know How She Does It.  It is the perfect role for this woman to star as – as she is a mother, actress, active in politics, passionate, active New Yorker, sees the importance of the arts – she is a domestic diva taking on the world head first, and doing it rather gracefully and beautifully at that.  I was thrilled to see her grace to cover of the August issue of Vogue – no matter how many times she appears on the cover, I am always thrilled to read more.  I am excited to see the movie, even if it is not going to be a film that blows my mind with cinematography.  It will at least be a good laugh – and hopefully some great fashion, after all SJP has never been one to dress poorly – on or off the screen.

She is a stunning woman and has a beautiful family – and I do not mean that simply outwardly.

Are you a fan of SJP?  What do you love most about her?

Much love,

B
