…okay, not quite yet, but almost! I am so excited. I am especially excited that I do not have to wear snow boots to my events – this is a big deal for us Minnesota folks (and yes, I said that in as thick of an accent as possible while typing). I have a wedding to go to first and then I will be heading to a fabulous soiree to ring in the new year with some of my favorite people. I hope you all have a fabulous evening and please, please stay safe! We want this to be a fun night to remember…
Well, my loves, tomorrow is the big night where we get to get all dolled up in sequins from head to toe and say goodbye to 2011 and hello to 2012. What lady doesn’t love getting dolled up? And what fashionista doesn’t love a good excuse to wear sequins and sparkle all night long?! I know I would never pass up either option, so I will be wearing sequins tomorrow. Now, the question is which sequins?! I am loving the sample Studio Wicked picked out…
What will you be wearing tomorrow night? Any fun plans to ring in the new year?
Maybe my favorite purchase of 2011?! My Two Harbors Pull Over from Anthropologie. I simply adore it and would wear it every single day if that was sociably acceptable.
Marvel Bar. Minneapolis’ very own Speak Easy. If you know, you love it. If you don’t know, well you should. I love it so much, like I am there at least twice a week but really more like three or four times love it. The staff have become my friends and we really probably know far too much about each others lives, but hey it works.
My vacation to Akumal, Mexico. Honestly, I love traveling, but I have never had a more restful and refreshing trip in my life. Absolutely loved it. Helped that I was with two fabulous ladies, as well.
Concerts. My year was filled with them and I loved every single one of them. I especially loved Cloud Cult – to see live art happen, both in the music as well as the painting on stage was such an amazing experience. Seriously, live music may be one, if not thee, my favorite things on this Earth. It just does something to me.
Sequins and faux fur. I simply could not, and still cannot, get enough of them. And put them together, well now you just have me weak in the knees.
Can you believe that 2011 is days away from coming to a close? It is so hard for me to believe. It is even crazier when I sit here and start thinking about all that this past year has been. So many things are different, and yet so many are still just as unknown today as they were a year ago. I have loved looking through pictures from the year that mark changes – a few of my favorites being my new tattoo, spending a holiday with my family, and all sorts of amazing concerts. It has been a fun year. Filled with a lot of learning – mainly, that I have a long way to go and a lot more to learn, but it is best to take it one day at a time. I know changes will come in 2012 and I am sure I will make a list of things I would like to see happen – but I am going to hold them loosely because I am trying to be okay with not having everything under control. Plus, life is far more enjoyable when you live the adventure instead of trying to organize the adventure – I get enough of that at work.
What are some of your highlights of 2011? Any profound thoughts you have taken away from 2011? Please do share!
I have loved the band Fun. since the first time I saw them live back in 2010. I, along with all the other fans, have anxiously been awaiting a sophomore album. Thankfully, it will be out this February and they are touring again, too! If you are in Minneapolis, the show is April 13th at The Varsity. Cannot wait for the show. This is the acoustic version of the song We are Young, which I adore. You may have heard the song covered on Glee if you watch that show -and they did a good job with the song, but Fun. does it best.
Can you believe 2011 is already coming to a close. Only a few short days before we say goodbye to 2011 and hello 2012. With that, I have been browsing through posts from this past year and falling in love all over again with some of the beautiful accessories from this year. I still cannot get enough of the layering on my wrists – especially when I have a shirt that a necklace simply does not work with.
There have been so many great rings and scarves, as well, this year that I cannot get enough of. I love that both are memory holders for me, too – as I have gotten a lot of them on my travels.
What are some of your favorite accessories from 2011?
We have spent the last few weeks looking at styling tips for men. I have had conversations with men here and there more frequently as of late it seems where they keep telling me it looks great but I just do not think I could pull it off. One, I completely disagree with that statement for men or women. If there is a look you like – then wear it, you can pull it off if you wear it confidently. Two, lucky for you the new year starts in less than a week – so with a new year, let that be an unfolding of a new you in dress. So, men, no more excuses – I think all the others can fall under one of those two, so we have already addressed them. Here’s to a new you in 2012 – now don’t be afraid – trust me, you will look hot. The ladies will love it, at least the ones that appreciate a well dressed man – and you could say I know a few of those.
Ladies, what is the one thing you would like to see your man wear more or less of? Men, what is one thing you will never get rid of, no matter how unstylish it is?
Today, I a still off enjoying time away. I have taken the weekend to get caught up on some movie watching – like I went to three in theaters and then watched a couple at home, too. Yes, that makes me a movie junkie for the weekend, but I love them and never have time to go see them anymore. By the way – Young Adult was really good, and it is set in Minnesota. I also have enjoyed time to be with friends that have become my family – so thankful for them, as they make the holidays far more bearable!
Well, loves, time off is a limited commodity these days…so off I go to enjoy my last few hours, and I have some shopping to do! How has your weekend been? Still enjoying holiday or back at it today? What was your favorite gift you got?
Well, Merry Christmas Eve to be exact! Hope you have a lovely holiday weekend. I am off to go celebrate with some dear friends tonight, and then some more friends tomorrow. I will also be going to see a movie – it is my Christmas Day tradition I started a few years ago when I decided it was time to redeem Christmas a bit and start making some traditions of my own.
