I am crazy about this song. I am super excited that MS MR is headlining their first North American tour this fall and one of the cities is Minneapolis – at 7th Street Entry, one of my favorite venues! It may mean I go to shows three nights in a row, but oh well – it is worth it for amazing music. Seriously, just give this song Hurricane a listen – it will leave you wanting to hear more!
Would you go to different concerts three nights in a row? Or do you get concert overload?
I love this look for a cool summer night. But let’s be real, when am I not loving denim?!! It gets me every time.
Donut holes. Oh how I love when these sweet little balls of joy hit my lips. They have always been a weakness of mine, ever since I was a little girl.
I love this sweater so much and feel like I need on just like this to get me through the fall and winter. It would be perfect to to cuddle up in.
I have been obsessing over cucumber salads as of late. I have seriously been eating some sort of cucumber salad it feels like every day – but they are so good. I think it may be all the fresh locally grown cucumbers I have been getting as of late, but they a fun base from the normal greens for a salad.
I love this whole outfit. I especially love the pop of color with the scarf – it has me excited to be wearing scarves again soon.
Do you cook more in the summer with fresh produce? What is your favorite summer dish?
Have I ever mentioned how much I love the Minneapolis music scene?!! Oh yea, that’s right, I have a few times. Well, here is another perfect example of why. On Saturday night, I went to a local brewery who has a tap room open at night, brings in a food truck, and has local music come and play. It is a fabulous place to hang out with friends – new and old. While I was there on Saturday, I had the pleasure of getting to hear this lovely lady for the first time, Cait Leary. She was giving away her free EP and I have already listened to it a couple times, so naturally I had to share her with you, lovies. She has some more music up on her BandCamp site and just released a new album last month. Go check her out and give her some love!!
Do you ever stumble upon random shows that end up being great?!
Tonight marks the closing of the latest season of ABC’s The Bachelorette. I always host girls’ night to watch – we gush over the drama, the men, the trips and of course the clothes. Even if a week seems to be boring – we at least always have some fabulous fashion to cheers to. Tonight the gals and I are actually going to a fun event here in Minneapolis for a live viewing of the finale together. I have no idea what is going to happen as I was left stunned, pissed, and hurt for Des last week – I am more excited to see the dress she will wear for the last Rose Ceremony and the shoes. The girl has good taste in shoes. So, even if she doesn’t find love – at least she has a fabulous new car (that is teal!) and some amazing new clothes.
Are you a Bachelor/Bachelorette fan? Will you be watching the finale tonight? What do you want to see happen?
Last week I went to an event called Rock the Link to support ending youth homelessness in the Twin Cities. There were five amazing local bands that played. Some I knew prior and some where new to me – Sun Gods to Gamma Rays being my favorite new find. They are so chill it sends shivers down my back. This is their first single, which you can hear on The Current (go request it!), Burn Me Through.
How are you discovering new music? Do you ever go to shows where you do not know the band or bands playing?
I LOVE live music. I LOVE The Mowgli’s. And when you put those two together and then mix in getting pulled up on stage to sing Timewith them, you get one extremely happy girl. And I got to share the moment with my bestie. It was pretty fabulous. The Mowgli’s are amazing musicians, but even more they are beautiful souls that promote peace and love – true hippies that I totally share a heart with. It is such a beautiful thing that they are doing as they share their gift with others. Go see them if you get a chance. You will NOT regret it. #BeAMowgli #IAmAMowgli
I keep seeing this style of shoe everywhere and they are so stinkin cute! I totally need a pair.
Ice cream in the summer is delicious, especially when from Pumphouse Creamery. My absolute favorite in Minneapolis. I got to share it with my new special friend last weekend and I think that made me love it that much more.
How fabulous is this dress?!! For a hot humid day – yes, please I was a simple flowy, lightweight little black dress. Adore.
I finally got a new bike with the help of a good friend. It is teal – pretty much perfect for me since that seems to be my color of the moment. I love it. And even more, I love that this picture is taken in what is right out my front door – I am so blessed to get to live in an amazing city that also has nature all over. I love the lakes. Couldn’t live without them.
What are some of your favorite little delights this week?
Now, some people may be over the guys getting together, jamming out and singing with fabulous voices and energy – but me, not so much. In fact, I am still loving it because each group does find a way to add their own twist to it. Plus, if they have long hair and scruff to mix with their musical talents I am all ears…especially if my ears get to be at a live music happy hour event. The Wild Feathers are my new favorite and though sadly they will not be doing a show in Minneapolis anytime soon, they are doing a guest appearance at a Sun Soaker Thursday put on by Cities 97 on June 27th. Naturally, my girlfriends and I have turned this in to a full on event – it will be fabulous to have a mid-week catch up on the lake (hopefully with sun) and great live music. These guys have such a great sound, especially to rock out to on a hot summer afternoon! These American boys, who have been playing together since August 2010, bring together the best of rock, country, folk, and blues to make a sound of their own. So, if you are in the area, feel free to come join us at Maynard’s on June 27th – we will be there rain or shine!
How do you get your fix of live outdoor music in during the summer?
Lipstick is a girl’s best friend. You want to know why?! Because when you are feeling exhausted, like you are not going to be able to make it through the day but you need to put your game face on, put on some bright lips and suddenly your face looks awake. That pop of color helps bring you to life. Recently, I cannot seem to get enough of bright fuchsia lips. There is something playful about pink and that even works at the office (which is extremely helpful since I have been feeling extra tired at work this week). It is a great color for summer time, which has finally seemed to grace Minneapolis. The key is to find a shade that you are comfortable in – and I highly recommend letting it dry before you drink some coffee, eat, or pucker up for a smooch.
What is your lip color of choice these days? Are you a lipstick, lip gloss or more of a lip stain kind of gal?
Like any other fashionista out there, I love having a little change to my look to spice things up a bit. Especially when it comes to my hair. Just last week I had drinks with a friend and she goes – I swear, you have new hair every time I see you and I love it!! I certainly do enjoy spicing things up a bit, fairly often. I had taken a long break from changing up my hue for a year or so because every time I would get it cut my color looked fresh and new. Well, I started getting antsy to change it up and then I was the lucky winner of a giveaway at Ruby Girl sponsored by dpHue. It is such a fabulous concept. You go in (no appointment needed, mind you – my kind of place) and take a few minutes to discuss your hair, desired color, etc. Then, you are given a custom color combination just for you and a tutorial on how to apply it to yourself at home. It is so simple and easy – and the quality is fabulous. The product is made in Italy, and they know quality, especially when it comes to hair. It is a local concept here in the Minneapolis area, but I highly recommend it to anyone here!
I’m loving having dark, dark hair again – whoever says blondes have more fun has never had black hair, just sayin…
Do you dye your hair? How far will you venture from your natural color? Or do you even remember what your natural color is??
