Five Loves…

This whole outfit from J. Crew is great – but those pants, I simply adore them.  It was love at first site – dang you J. Crew and swooning me from my email…

Fashion Week…I may not have been there to personally enjoy NYFW, but I am loving the collections and getting to read about others time there.  And just think – we still have the European fashion weeks ahead of us – love this time of year.

Anna Wintour.  Never fails to impress me.  When I grow up I want to be her.

This video has been all over the blog world recently, but I just had to share it because I love it so much.  So well done.  Plus, put fashion and dancing together and you have my attention.

Atlanta, GA.  Love me some southern hospitality…even if it will only be for 24 hours this fine weekend.  I love this city, mainly because I love my dear friends there and I get to see almost all of them as we celebrate a Southern belle marrying a true MN guy – so ready for this party…well, minus the whole being packed part.  Which reminds me, I better run off and get started on that…

Hope you have had a good week, loves!

Much love,

B

Five Loves…

I absolutely love this look.  This has been my favorite go to style for the summer.  I even push the limits at work and will find a way to make this work for the whole two or three hours I work on casual Friday (yes, I work long days earlier in the week to justify leaving early on Fridays…I figure it is summer time so why not…).

I may or may not have ripped open my September issue of Vogue and twirled around my house singing, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year…”  Yeah, you could say that I pretty much love this issue every year.

I have been obsessing over the Who What Wear office space ever since I saw it over at Erin’s Elements of Style Blog.  They are stunning.  I would love to work in a space like that – wouldn’t you kill for an office like that?!

I love everything about this room – from the French script on the rug, to the grey walls and perfect accent pieces.  I would be a happy lady if this was my master bedroom.

I love this dress.  I love this street.  Take me back to LA.  The days have been long recently at work, and oddly enough I have really been enjoying that, but I am getting tired and would love a little weekend getaway to one of my favorites – LA.

What are you loving these days?

Much love,

B

How Does She Do It?!

Sarah Jessica Parker.  I have loved her for years.  Yes, I for a very long time referred to her simply as Carrie, but she has proven to be so much more than that one amazing role that changed the face of fashion.  Carrie gave many women some one to relate to.  Sarah Jessica Parker gives far more women some one to be inspired by.  She is starring in a movie to be released September 16th in the States titled I Don’t Know How She Does It.  It is the perfect role for this woman to star as – as she is a mother, actress, active in politics, passionate, active New Yorker, sees the importance of the arts – she is a domestic diva taking on the world head first, and doing it rather gracefully and beautifully at that.  I was thrilled to see her grace to cover of the August issue of Vogue – no matter how many times she appears on the cover, I am always thrilled to read more.  I am excited to see the movie, even if it is not going to be a film that blows my mind with cinematography.  It will at least be a good laugh – and hopefully some great fashion, after all SJP has never been one to dress poorly – on or off the screen.

She is a stunning woman and has a beautiful family – and I do not mean that simply outwardly.

Are you a fan of SJP?  What do you love most about her?

Much love,

B

Girl Crush…

A woman of class and true beauty.  Kirstie Clements.  Not sure who she is?  Well, she is most well known for being the Editor-In-Chief of Vogue Australia.  She is a style icon for all fashionistas – it seems to come with the role she has at Vogue.  I love that she is a normal woman who has pursued her dreams and is doing a great job at tackling them.  She is more than a simple girl crush – she is an inspiration to me.  I would love to be like her one day – and would actually love to work for her – I mean honestly, it would be my dream job.  Vogue.  In Australia.  My two favorites in the fashion world in one – this little ladies dream come true.

Who or what is inspiring you today?  How is that inspiration moving you into action?

Much love,

B

Visonary Reflection…

Reflecting on one’s life is not simple or easy.  It can be emotional because you never know what exactly you will discover – but that does not have to only be a hard emotion – it can be exciting.  It is also something that is often done around the new year – but I say screw that, reflect whever you feel like it is needed – no need for a date to change in order to mkae a change in your life.

A great way to get your ideas out onto paper is through a vision board.  I mean we could write our dreams and ambitions out in a journal – but sometimes it is more helpful to have a display to look at and laid out.  Yesterday, I actually had the privilege to make my very own vison board after taking some time to reflect on my life and where do I want it to go.  The beauty of this is that it is up to you – what makes you exciting, what do you want to do – not what is simply trendy to the world around you.  The hard part is – that the options can be endless (unless you are one of those lucky people who knows exactly what you want out of life – me I am a little ADD and feel like I am constantly changing my mind) – though it was interesting.  I realized as I made my vision board that I am not as ADD as I tell myself – my dreams have not changed all that much – I know what I want, I just need to figure out how to go get it.  I have taken the first step – I have laid it out for myself in my vision board and you would be surprised – it has actuall yhelped organize a lot of my thoughts.  Now, I need to take those thoughts and move them into action so I can really go pursue my dreams.  I share a lot of other people’s art with you, but wanted to take today to share a little piece (well more like a huge piece) of B with you…here is a picture of my current vision board…

…as you can see, I am still in the process of figuring out exactly where I am headed, but at least I am up for the adventure.  What things would be on your vision board?  Have you known what you want out of life your whole life?  Or do you feel like it is ever changing?

Much love,

B

PS.  I am back from vacation and so excited to make it back to all of your lovely blogs and say hi!  I loved my week plus away, but it feels good to be back (well…back writing…not so much the current working…hence the vision board needing to move me into action…).

Wishing I was There…

That is right friends.  Every fashionista’s favorite time of winter.  Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.  It is a time to forget about the cold and come out and celebrate beauty.  People fly in from all over the world to fill those shows were designers display their beauty, creativity, design, and art.  I must say I am a little crushed (okay…I am playing this down a bit…) because I am not there.  My original plan was to be there for this week, but then this thing called work and a go-live happened (yes…I know that makes about zero sense to most…but trust me, you don’t just up and leave for a go-live when you are the trainer…).  Thus, I am still here in the tundra of Minnesota and will enjoy the beauty from my home viewing on my laptop.  Thank goodness for technology!  I mean what fashionista Valentine’s loving lady wouldn’t want to be in NYC celebrating two of the greatest things in one?!  I was thankful Vogue gave us a little inside look at Organic by John Patrick’s Fall 2011 line.  Ooo it just gets me so excited to see what else will be revealed this week!

Are you excited for Fashion Week?  What show are you most excited to see?

Happy Thursday, loves!  Can you believe it is almost the weekend?!  Ooo….so excited…I mean I will be celebrating Valentine’s Day all weekend long!

Much love,

B

Parisian Chic Gets a New Leader…

Now, we all know how much I love Vogue.  And, as I have shared with you more and more – my love is not limited to US Vogue.  In fact, I love Vogue Paris almost as much – constant battle between the two.  With that, there has been some big news released last week – Vogue Paris will have a new Editor-in-Chief starting February 1st.  Emmanuelle Alt will be taking over for Carine Roitfeld – who has done an amazing job and is a true fashion icon across the world – she is a legend.  Emmanuelle is a fashion icon herself, and has experience – but she has big shoes to fill.  Condé Nast is confident in their selection for the role.  They stated, “Vogue Paris is in great form and we wanted to hand over the editor-in-chief role to someone who can continue the integrity of the editorial while bringing a breath of fresh air.”

Here you see the two fashion icons side by side, Emmanuelle on the left and Carine on the right.  They both do a great job of personifying Parisian Chic.

How do you feel about the switch?  Who are your greatest fashion icons?

Much love,

B

The Battle Continues…

So do you remember a while back when I first brought up the battle of New York City versus Paris, here?  Well, the battle continues and it just keeps getting better and better.  I thought, hey it is the middle of the week, the holidays are over, we are all back to work…we need a little pick me up.  So, here are some of my new favorites in the tally of these two magnificent cities.

My new personal favorite…and it leaves me so torn.  Though,  I would have to say I am going to fall out on giving my tally to Anna.  I mean she is my role model, has my dream job, and well, I simply want to be here…for at least a day.  And for those that do not know, meet two of the most influential women in fashion – the editors in chief of American Vogue and Vogue Paris.

Now, we all know…I love me some hipster.  Though…it is a close call between these two…

Both have great architecture, but also have these great little places of green…and water.  I love the water.  Fairly torn, but NYC does have cleaner water…

Paris takes this tally without question.  I mean, seriously I love all things that sparkle, so needless to say I will go for the lights.

Now if only the battle in my mind were between these two cities…I need someone to do NYC versus LA.  Though, I think I know what will win…but I could be shocked.  I guess I even was shocked the first time around that tally was done.  Are you thoroughly confused now by my cryptic talk?  Don’t worry, you are not the only one…and I will shed more clarity on this when the time is right…

How is life back at work for you guys this week?  Find yourself day dreaming about anything? My default is always travel….maybe that is why I love the Paris vs New York City blog so much…

Much love,

B
