Little Green Cars…

How can you not be drawn to a band named Little Green Cars?!!  It is such a cute name, I naturally had to check them out.  I am glad I did because I am loving what I am hearing.  I would say their song Harper Lee is their most popular song.  It has a fun, catchy, upbeat tune that will find you bobbing your head along to it.  Perfect way to ease into fall as you still have some summer lingering.

How do you discover new music?

Much love,

Saints of Valory…

The perfect song to end the summer is Neon Eyes by Saints of Valory.  The hot humid nights of August are better with windows rolled down and good tunes blasting.  This song has totally made my recent playlist.  They are on tour right now, but sadly get close but not all the way up to Minneapolis anytime soon.

What are your end of summer songs you are loving?

Much love,

B

Hurricane…

I am crazy about this song.  I am super excited that MS MR is headlining their first North American tour this fall and one of the cities is Minneapolis – at 7th Street Entry, one of my favorite venues!  It may mean I go to shows three nights in a row, but oh well – it is worth it for amazing music.  Seriously, just give this song Hurricane a listen – it will leave you wanting to hear more!

Would you go to different concerts three nights in a row?  Or do you get concert overload?

Much love,

B

Nothing’s Enough…

Have I ever mentioned how much I love the Minneapolis music scene?!!  Oh yea, that’s right, I have a few times.  Well, here is another perfect example of why.  On Saturday night, I went to a local brewery who has a tap room open at night, brings in a food truck, and has local music come and play.  It is a fabulous place to hang out with friends – new and old.  While I was there on Saturday, I had the pleasure of getting to hear this lovely lady for the first time, Cait Leary.  She was giving away her free EP and I have already listened to it a couple times, so naturally I had to share her with you, lovies.  She has some more music up on her BandCamp site and just released a new album last month.  Go check her out and give her some love!!

Do you ever stumble upon random shows that end up being great?!

Much love,

B

Wake Me Up…

Do you like the Mumford/Lumineer sound?  And how about mis in some house party beats?  Yea?!!  Me too.  Pretty sure you will love this song, Wake Me Up.   Seriously, Avicii is brilliant.  The way he brings music together as a DJ is truly a masterpiece.  Turn it up and let yourself dance – trust me, you won’t be able to contain yourself.  Now, my only hope is it doesn’t get over played.

How do you feel when to genres get mashed together?

Much love,

B

Sun Gods to Gamma Rays…

Last week I went to an event called Rock the Link to support ending youth homelessness in the Twin Cities.  There were five amazing local bands that played.  Some I knew prior and some where new to me – Sun Gods to Gamma Rays being my favorite new find.  They are so chill it sends shivers down my back.  This is their first single, which you can hear on The Current (go request it!), Burn Me Through.

How are you discovering new music?  Do you ever go to shows where you do not know the band or bands playing?

Much love,

B

Us…

Now, everyone remembers Call Me Maybe, the big time summer hit from last year.  It was catchy and got you moving.  Songs like that are always fun to cover.  This little pair, Us, has a Mummford meets Lumineers sound that still stays upbeat as they cover pop songs.  I have been addicted to listening to what they have on Youtube this week.  They have amazing voices and musical talents.

Do you ever like covers more than the original?

Much love,

B

Dance in the Graveyards…

Last Thursday, I went to see Delta Rae perform live on a patio in Minneapolis and wow – they were freaking amazing live.  You know those bands that sound even better live?!  Yea, Delta Rae is totally one of those bands.  You may know them for their single, If I Loved You – which is a fabulous song and gives you a brief intro into the bands fantastic talents.  This song, Dance in the Graveyards, was totally my favorite though.  I have this thing for graveyards, and when they played it I about lost it – every piece of me could not keep still.  Ever since I cannot get enough of their whole debut album, Carry the Fire – so much that I almost have all the lyrics memorized.

After you see a band live do you keep listening to them on repeat to relive the show?  Who are you listening to on repeat these days?

Much love,

B

Blurred Lines…

I absolutely love this song.  I cannot get enough of it.  Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. & Pharrell is the perfect song for summer. This week, Wednesday is my Friday so I wanted to play one of my favorite party songs since I am off to festivities with the bou in a couple hours – need to get in the mood.  And this song certainly gets you in the mood.

Do you like this song?  What is your current get you in the party mood song?

Much love,

B
