On the Matte…

Having your nails freshly done is always a fabulous feeling.  It feels fresh, fun and put together.  My default is always a bright shiny red – I love it so much.  However, recently it has been bitterly cold and all I find myself drawn to are more dull colors.  So, naturally it has to be expressed somewhere in my attire – which today is on my nails.  I recently bought a matte top coat for my nails and I LOVE it – it is perfect for these bitterly cold wintery days.

What are your thoughts on matte nails?  Are you embracing this trend?

Warming Up in Winter White…

ww1

When living in the frozen tundra, which recently it has been living up to its name, it is important to find ways to stay warm while not sacrificing on style.  Personally, I find layers are extremely helpful, and recently there is something so warm and cozy about winter white that I have been crushing on.  When a color embodies warmth it helps me feel more warm and cozy in it.  I wouldn’t mind cuddling up by the fire in my winter whites – that is my kind of winter.

Five Loves…

love1

There is something so beautiful about this photo.  The girl is stunning, but that is not all.  The look in her eyes draw you in and then the soft look on her whole face allows for the red to pop perfectly on her lips.  Love this lovely.

love2

This drawing is amazing.  I love all that it communicates all through a pencil sketch.  A girl filled with so much emotion and words that are right there on the surface, but still stuck inside of you…

Seriously, this is the perfect warm winter day ensemble.  I adore the hat – the big brim to help block the wind.  Then, add the big shawl – divine.

I have been obsessing over figs as of late and so naturally this salad grabbed my attention right away.  It looks delectable.

How cute are these little booties?!!  I seriously feel like I need these for spring.  I just die.

What are you dying to gets your little paws on for spring?  Do you impulse buy or try to take time to think about the purchase first?

The Everyday Crown…

hat1

What girl didn’t want to be a princess with a crown when she was a little girl?!  Well, you may not have gotten the crown you wanted, but there is a far better functional option  – a hat.  And the best part about this more everyday type of crown, is that there are so many fabulous styles you can change it up – even daily if you wish.  I know I certainly would if I could, though my default in the winter is always my gray fedora with a couple feathers.  I love wearing it to the office – it is like my trademark.  I recently discovered a fabulous hat store in Uptown – and I think it is a little piece of heaven on earth – seriously, fabulous.  A hat makes a statement and makes a woman stand out.  So, she may not be a princess, but she can still be rather spectacular – no matter what mood she is in to sport for the day.

Chic Wonder Woman…

cape1

It is still chilly here in Minnesota, so there is a need to bundle up when venturing outside.  But who wants to sacrifice fashion to stay warm?!  I know I personally do not and one of my favorite ways to stay warm is with a cape.  Now, I am not talking a Wonder Woman style cape, but rather a nice warm wool cape.  They are stunning.  They make any woman warm and stylish, while still being functional.

How do you feel about capes?  Is it still cold enough where you are to bundle up in one?

Party Party Party…

party

Now, I thought after the new year life was supposed to slow down, right?!!  Yeah, not the case this year.  This year, the parties continue.  Last night I went to two holiday parties, and this evening I am off to two more parties – I mean guess that keeps life exciting.  Though, not going to lie – I wouldn’t mind a quiet night in cuddled up on the couch with a few close friends – at least the close friends are at the parties.  And the funny part is, all of January is filled with parties – somewhat odd for a month that does not have any major holidays in it…

Is your January slowing down or are you still full speed ahead with the holiday parties?

Walking in a Winter Wonderland…

photo (30)

The snow has fallen, but the heels must still be worn at the office.  So, what do we do in between while we are meandering about in this so called lovely winter wonderland?!!  Well, my dears, we wear boots – and as any true fashionista knows, we wear cute winter boots.  Sure, you can have a bland boring pair, but that would be denying of oneself.  Even winter boots should be cute and fashionable – at least in my humble opinion.  I personally love my plaid Sorel’s, pictured above.  There are so many cute pairs that look good to and from the office, and then even cute with skinnies on the weekend.

Winter Whitewash…

ww4

Yesterday, we got nailed with snow.  And I mean seriously, it did not stop all day long.  The shoveling occurred multiple times.  Now, most people that know me know that I hate the snow – like a lot.  Sure, I think it is pretty and actually really love walking in it – so there is this romantic side of me that adores the snow.  But the practical side, now that is the side that hates the snow.  The driving, the shoveling, the extra time it takes to get anywhere or do anything – I hate that part.  However, a fresh snowfall is always inspirational to embrace the winter whites.  The delicate softness of a fresh snow is best translated into the perfect combination of winter whites.

Put a Vest On It…

vest1

It may be winter, but it certainly has not felt like it recently  – and I am not complaining one bit.  In fact, it is warm enough that you don’t even need a jacket every day – so why not throw on a fabulous vest?!  My go to is my faux fur vest, but I am in love with the herringbone excursion quilted vest from J. Crew.  You could basically say that it is the newest item on my Christmas list.  A vest certainly has a more casual feel, but it can be paired with a more classic look to make for a great brunch look or midday outing running errands.

How do you feel about vests?  Do you have one?  Do you feel like they work or do they make you feel too puffy?
