Let’s Go For a Walk…

walk1

Whether you are walking around town going shopping on a Saturday afternoon with your girlfriends and then hitting a patio for drinks or going for a stroll around a lake, sometimes the best thing to wear is not a cute little sundress.  That much walking calls for a cute pair of walking shorts.  These shorts are no longer just for your momma, but for everyone.  I wished I could have snapped a pic of on gal in Uptown last week – she had styled her white walking shorts perfectly for a casual night out.  I was hesitant about this trend at first, but the more and more I see ladies styling them with their own touch I am warming up to the trend and thinking it may be time to give it a try.  I really love how most of them are high waisted to show off your feminine figure.  It seems like summer might finally be here in Minneapolis, so there should be plenty of opportunities to give it a try.

Are you a shorts wearer?  What are your thoughts on walking shorts?

Much love,

Five Loves…

love1

How cozy and chic does this pretty lady look all at the same time?!  I adore her whole look.

love2

I love purses and bags.  I love social justice.  So, when purchasing a bag, which is extremely cute I might add, will supply 100 school lunches for children in India, I’m naturally going to fall in love with it.  Check our Rachel Roy’s partnership with FEED here.  There are two colors, but I love this white one with the bright tassels.

Love this arm candy.  All week I have been layering and layering the pieces on to turn my wrist in to a real party.  I love mixing gold, fancier bracelets with some of my more hippie hemp bracelets.  Makes for a fun look.

I love this photo so much.  I wish that was me – so peaceful.  I love rowing, so the thought of rowing to the middle of the lake and getting some peaceful alone time sounds delightful.

I love my sweet friend, Cassie and today is her birthday!!  Happy birthday, C – love you lots!!  Thankful for you – more than words can express.

How do you stay looking chic, but still comfortable in the heat and humidity?

Much love,

B

Craving a Getaway…

getaway1

When it starts to warm up all I can think about is taking a couple days and getting away for some rest and relaxation.  Let me tell you, this craving is getting stronger and stronger.  Take me to the beach – please!!  It will only take me a couple of minutes to get my bags packed.  Really, all we need are our suits and big beach hats – oh, and maybe a sun dress or two.

Do you take little summer getaways on the weekends?  How do you get time to enjoy the summer as an adult?

Much love,

B

Pucker Up…

fuschia1

Lipstick is a girl’s best friend.  You want to know why?!  Because when you are feeling exhausted, like you are not going to be able to make it through the day but you need to put your game face on, put on some bright lips and suddenly your face looks awake.  That pop of color helps bring you to life.  Recently, I cannot seem to get enough of bright fuchsia lips.  There is something playful about pink and that even works at the office (which is extremely helpful since I have been feeling extra tired at work this week).  It is a great color for summer time, which has finally seemed to grace Minneapolis.  The key is to find a shade that you are comfortable in – and I highly recommend letting it dry before you drink some coffee, eat, or pucker up for a smooch.

What is your lip color of choice these days?  Are you a lipstick, lip gloss or more of a lip stain kind of gal?

Check Please…

plaid2

The cross check and plaid prints are not limited to flannels for the winter.  No, plaid is a year round style.  In the warmer months plaid is found in a softer, lighter material, that still looks fabulous in a button down.  And plaid is not just for the ladies, in fact I think it looks real good on men – I mean, just saying.  Plaid in the summer also looks great as a dress.  It is a print that may have once started as a trend on the farm, but has certainly crossed over the river and through the woods to the big city – for plaid certainly has an urban feel now.  So, throw on some plaid and sunnies and take a stroll through the city.

Do you wear plaid in the summertime?  How do you style plaid?

Classy meets casual – now that is my kind of summer uniform for the office.  I love the simplicity of this ensemble.

love2

Charleston, SC – one of my favorite cities to visit in the US.  Sadly, I don’t think I will make it there this summer – but for almost seven years straight I would make sure to at least get a day trip to this lovely city once a year.  So much history.  So much beauty and good foods.

love3

I love rings.  I love gold.  I love the symbolisim of knots.  So, basically this is the perfect ring and I adore it.

love5

A carefree moment where you can let go and laugh – even if it means you are laying on the ground laughing – now those are some of my favorite moments with my girlfriends.

love4

The perfect weekend uniform.  I have a hat almost identical to this and I could live in it.  I love wearing it to keep the sun off my face as I stroll through the local Farmers’ Market.

What are you doing to enjoy the sunshine?  Do you shop the local Farmers’ Markets?

Much love,

B

Knotted Up…

knot1

Who said the t-shirt knot went out of style?!!  Certainly, not this girl.  Well, okay, maybe it did for awhile, but it is certainly back.  The best part is, you can even pair it with the correct bottom and make it office appropriate – just avoid showing the middrift, please.  The office is not high school, after all.  A little middrift can be fun though for a Saturday or night out at a show.  This simple style can be worked with so many shirts – I am sure you do not need to go out and buy a new one, just look in your closet and play around.  Now those are the best trends, the ones you can try free of charge, at least if you ask me.

How do you feel about the knotted up look?  Will you be playing with it in your style this summer?

Itty Bitty…

swim1

Okay, so it may not be an itty bitty, yellow, polka-dot bikini, but this summer is all about the retro bikinis.  I love that they are not itty bitty.  They are feminine and flattering cuts. What woman doesn’t love having that part of her stomach covered – you know, right below the belly button – the impossible to get completely flat.  These suits have a classy feel to them that would be fabulous to lay out by the pool or stroll down the beach picking up sea shells.  They also would be great for getting in the water and playing around because they are all about full coverage, translation – no worries of any immodest free shows – hey, just being honest, something a gal has to think about when picking out a swim suit.  The best part about this retro style that is all the rave is that it is not limited to the bikini.  Have you seen some of the one pieces?!!  They are SO cute.  Who said less is more?!  When it comes to a swim suit, I prefer keeping a little mystery still (though let’s be honest, kind of hard no matter what suit you chose)…

How do you feel about the retro style suits?  What will you be wearing to the beach this summer?

Color Me Teal…

teal1

The color teal.  It is bold and bright.  Never thought it would be the one to steal my love away, but it has.  I am full blown head over heals for this color.  I love how it looks on everyone – no matter your skin tone or hair color, this color makes a woman pop.  Who knew?!  It started as my accent color in my kitchen and before I knew it, I found myself drawn to it every time I am out shopping.  It looks good in so many fabrics, as well, which means it can be a fabulous color to wear for the office or on a walk around the lakes – and I would know, as I have pieces I have worn in the last week to both of those places.  It is safe to say, this is certainly my color of the summer.

Does teal work with your summer style?  What is your color of the summer?

Feeling Jagged…

jag1

Summer so often can be filled with short shorts or mini skirts – but this summe,r why not spice up that look?!!  I apparently am not the only one feeling this way – whether you want to call it a jagged look or an origami look, a skirt line that is not straight across is all the rag.  I think one thing I love about this trend is that so many of them come in a skort option – talk about perfect for running around all day in the heat.  There is something more free about a skort than a classic mini, am I right ladies?!!  This look is fun and playful, but can also be dressed up for a fun date night – so, when are we going shopping to get this look added to my closet?!!

jag2

jag3

How do you feel about this trend, lovies?  Feeling a little jagged, yourself?

Much love,

B
