Five Loves…

Alright, let’s pack all this up and go travel to Europe – I think that would make me a rather happy girl right about now.  Just look at how pretty these pieces are.

 

Now, it may not be strolling around the streets of Paris, but I have been loving my morning strolls around the neighborhood – and I do have a French bakery down the street, so that isn’t too bad.

 

Late night cuddles with friends – so therapeutic.  Even fashionistas love a good pair of sweats from time to time.

I saw this the other day and loved it instantly.  I thought – tattoo inspiration?!  Stunning elephant.  And I like where she is going with this – let’s get to really planning that next big adventure…I’m thinking Thailand is the most realistic option these days…

Denim Daze…

Denim is all the rage.  It really always is when it comes to jeans, but when it comes to other articles being denim – well those go in and out and right now they are IN.  I love the carefree style they give a look.  Elle France featured model Charlotte Free in a denim spread and Daniel Kind, the photographer, did a wonderful job capturing the carefree daze of denim.  The spread has me wanting to live in my denim shirt and quit my day job…a girl can dream…

Alright, whose with me – ready to at least escape on a little vacay if not quit your day job completely?

Lost in a Dream…

Some days, or weeks (okay – or months…even years…yes by now we all are singing the theme song to Friends) just seem to be off.  Reality is not really where you want to be for whatever reason.  Something in life is hard, work is stressful, relationship drama, you’re feeling burnt out, or maybe all of the above seem to come crashing down at once and a vacation is not really an option – nor is crawling in bed and hoping it all goes away.  Those moments are when you will find me most lost in a dream.  I know it is not good to escape all the time, but sometimes a little day dream helps get you through those moments.  I am there now, and so here is a little glimpse into my day dream…

Wish List {Leather Gloves}…

Ever since I was in Paris I have been kicking myself for not buying the most stunning electric blue leather gloves from one of the street vendors.  They were perfect, everything I was looking for.  Yet, I for some outlandish reason did not purchase them.  Thus, leaving me on the hunt ever since and adding them to my wish list.  I love the way leather gloves look when paired with a stunning coat.  The contrast of textures is like a match made in heaven.

What is your take on leather gloves – classic color or add a bright color for pop?

Five Loves…

My very own faux fur vest that I simply cannot get enough of.  I seriously wish it was socially acceptable for me to wear it daily.

My Sorel boots keeping me warm and fashionable as the snow season has clearly begun in Minneapolis.

Hot yoga.  Seriously, having a room heated to 94 degrees to escape to for an hour a day helps me deal with the bitter cold.  Plus, it is a great place to go and relieve some stress.

Enjoying the long weekend by curling up on the couch and watching a movie.  One of the simplest joys that I love doing when it gets cold and I have a little extra time.  It is a mini staycation, perfect for the day after Thanksgiving.

Lights stringing the streets to light up the cold air with the warmth of the holiday season.  I love it.  Walking around Uptown in Minneapolis, or the streets of Paris (yes, I know – vast difference…and that is an understatement), I can’t help but smile to myself.  It is like walking through a movie for a brief moment and I love it.

Go go go….

This weekend is packed and feels like I am on the go the whole time.  Wish that being on the go included a trip to Paris – I have been craving Paris as of late…so much that the other night I started speaking in French. Then, yesterday I was sitting at my desk talking to myself…in French.  Time for a vacation? Yes.  In Paris?  Yes, please.

Paul & Joe…

There can never be too many designers in the world.  Each one has something to offer and brings a new flavor to the art.  I think that is why I love looking for new designers, as well as continuing to go back to classics every year to see what they have in store for us in the upcoming seasons.  I also love that yes, they do want people to buy their clothes and find them gorgeous, but they (well in an ideal world) stay true to themselves.  They create art that is beautiful to them, and hope that others will agree and want to live in their art.  Ones that do this well are the French.  I am loving Paul & Joe’s Fall/Winter (or if you will Automne- Hiver) 2011/12 collection.  I also am loving that it is not just clothing for them.  They also have a breathtaking beauty collection inspired by New York City.  The detail in the product is gorgeous from the packaging to the engraving on the actual lipstick.  I want it just because it is beautiful (clearly marketing works on me…).

Now, I love summer (as I am sure you have caught on by now…), but I really do love fall for fashion.  It is like the new year for fashion.  People try new things, change up their look – and I love that.  Do you have a favorite season for fashion? How do you look forward to what is coming, but also enjoy the present?

Design Crush {Maison Michel}…

It started back in 1936 in Paris as a hatmaker named Auguste Michael founded his company, and Maison Michel was born.  It has transformed into a beautiful company producing hats and other gorgeous accessories you see gracing models down the runway every season.  One day I want to have an excuse to wear one of these beautiful pieces.  Maybe instead of a traditional veil?!  Eah, I do not know – no need to figure that out now.  In the meantime, I wanted to share some of my favorites with you.  Some are simply breath taking, and others are more fun that I could really wear out in the city this fall.

This last one almost has me excited for the cold.  Almost being the very key word.  I am very much still loving summer, but this would help me cope with the the bitter cold of Minnesota winters.

Leonard Spirit…

I seem to be falling head over heels left and right for designers.  Though, to change it up a bit – this week I am sharing with you a designer from Paris – Leonard, Paris.  It is good for me to break out of my normal obsession with Australia.  I love the way he is inspired by Asian culture and still adds his own flair.  The way he uses color and silk allows for these pieces to flow and dance – perfect for this summer at the beach or even having a staycation in the city.  Wherever you wear these pieces, you will bring an effortless feminine luxury.

Aren’t they just beautiful?!  And they look so free – which is so wonderful when it starts to get hot and humid – no one wants to feel constricted by their clothes.  How do you dress for the heat and humidity?  Do you embrace the free flowing bright colors for summer?
