Five Loves {of 2011}…

Maybe my favorite purchase of 2011?!  My Two Harbors Pull Over from Anthropologie.  I simply adore it and would wear it every single day if that was sociably acceptable.

Marvel Bar.  Minneapolis’ very own Speak Easy.  If you know, you love it.  If you don’t know, well you should.  I love it so much, like I am there at least twice a week but really more like three or four times love it.  The staff have become my friends and we really probably know far too much about each others lives, but hey it works.

My vacation to Akumal, Mexico.  Honestly, I love traveling, but I have never had a more restful and refreshing trip in my life.  Absolutely loved it.  Helped that I was with two fabulous ladies, as well.

Concerts.  My year was filled with them and I loved every single one of them.  I especially loved Cloud Cult – to see live art happen, both in the music as well as the painting on stage was such an amazing experience.  Seriously, live music may be one, if not thee, my favorite things on this Earth.  It just does something to me.

Sequins and faux fur.  I simply could not, and still cannot, get enough of them.  And put them together, well now you just have me weak in the knees.

A Year to Accessorize…

Can you believe 2011 is already coming to a close.  Only a few short days before we say goodbye to 2011 and hello 2012.  With that, I have been browsing through posts from this past year and falling in love all over again with some of the beautiful accessories from this year.  I still cannot get enough of the layering on my wrists – especially when I have a shirt that a necklace simply does not work with.

There have been so many great rings and scarves, as well, this year that I cannot get enough of.  I love that both are memory holders for me, too – as I have gotten a lot of them on my travels.

Fall into Plaid…

There is something about fall that always brings out the cozy in all of us.  This year, fashion trends are joining in on the fun – though still doing it with a chicness.  That is right, plaid is no longer just for your flannels or country lovers – plaid is for fashionistas this year, too.  This is a trend I am all about, it may be the whole being from northern Minnesota thing, but it works – especially with the twist of adding high fashion to it, too.

How do you feel about this plaid trend?  Falling for it?  How would you style plaid into your look?

Playing with Texture…

I have been loving textures more and more recently.  Even more than textures by themselves, I am loving mixing them to give looks more dimension.  This trend of mixing things up a bit and playing with textures gives such a rich finished look when done well.  Mixing the tweed suit with patent leather shoes and belt and then a calfskin bag – you have a chic looking working woman.  Playing with textures also can do a lot for casual looks – you can be laid back and still look very put together when you are out of the office, which is where I am off to in just a few short hours because I have the joy of another long weekend ahead of me.

Ladies in Style {NYFW}…

I have been loving seeing all of the new collections that are being shown at New York Fashion Week.  The designers are showing beautiful collections that are flattering to feminine figures – it is like art drifting down the runway.  Along with loving the desingers pieces, I am loving the looks that the ladies (and the men are fairly impressive, too) are wearing to go see the shows.  These fashionistas are taking fashion and making it their own style – love that.

Ready to Shop {Missoni Style}…

Ladies and gentlemen, the rumors are true – Missoni is coming to a Target near you – TODAY!  I am so excited to go check out the collection today after work.  I have been waiting so long – maybe the best designer Target has had yet?!  I love that it is not just for the ladies, too.  Men get to enjoy the fun.  Plus, there are home wares, luggage, accessories, and so much more.  I have been on the hunt for new luggage for awhile – maybe the hunt will be over – it would be a lot easier to spot at the airport than my current black luggage.  As we continue to move further and further into fall, this collection will greatly add to your own personal fall collection without break the bank – amazing.

FNO…

Tomorrow night marks the annual Fashion’s Night Out.  It all started in New York City, but in it’s third year now is spreading across the globe.  Sadly, Minneapolis does not have a huge participation in FNO – but there is always next year to expand?!  Or maybe next year I will just have to plan to be in NYC for FNO?!  I have some time to think on that one.

We may not have a huge FNO here, but that does not mean I will not be participating in my own way.  I mean, it is still a great excuse to go out shopping with a couple girlfriends – we can bring our own little flavor to FNO here in our city.  I mean, even the Glee cast is getting into it this year…

Give Me Texture {Tweed}…

Now, as a lover of Chanel I have been a long standing fan of tweed.  I love when fall rolls around and you start to see this lovely texture walking down the streets with power pumps.  Jackets, skirts, pants or even in great bag – it always leaves a lady looking classy, stylish and very put together.  I am all about embracing this texture this fall now that I have my grown-up job in corporate America, though really tweed does not need to be limited to the office.

And the tweed is not just for the ladies…

Orange Dream…

As we get closer and closer to fall the richer and deeper colors start to come out.  One color that I keep seeing everywhere I look is orange.  Now, I love orange on the trees when the leaves are changing colors, however I am still trying to figure out how I feel about this trend.  I have been finding some looks with orange that I am liking, but my verdict is still out.  Though, lets be honest – I love bold colors, so I am sure I will be giving this one a fair shot.

Give Me Texture {Calfskin}…

So, the real reason why I am not a vegan is because I love so many different textures that involve animal skins.  This week’s texture I am loving for fall is calfskin.  The clutch pictured above is a Balenciaga calfskin clutch – just look at how gorgeous that is.  It has such a smooth look and feel to it that has me wanting to wear it this fall.  It look so chic.
