Party Time {Giving Thanks}…

Loves, whereever you may be today I wanted to take the time to say thank you.  I feel so blessed to be able to have this little spot to share my love of fashion, life and all things beautiful with you.  Today, I am spending the day with dear friends of mine that have been family to me for the last few years.  I love getting to spend the holidays with them and be a part of the fam.  Really I wish I took the time every day to stop and think of what I am thankful for, but I am thankful to have a day to remind me to slow down and see the things I am blessed to have.  Here are just a few of the things I am thankful for today…

1. Faith, family, and friends – I know it sounds cheesy, but seriously I am so thankful for those three things.  I wouldn’t be the same without them.
2. My sweet little Willow.  Seriously, that cat has brought me so much joy in just 3 short months.
3. Amazing girlfriends (yes, they fall into the friend category, too) to be able to share life with and laugh at how ridiculous our lives really seem to be sometimes.
4. Soy lattes.
5. My (still unreal that I own my own house) house becoming a home.
6. An amazing new job with fabulous coworkers that make going to work a joy every day. (And fabulous ex-coworkers that I still get to keep in touch with.)
7. DVR.  Seriously – that thing has made roommate time happen.  Getting to watch Revenge every week together, without commercials – amazing.
8. Theta – love what it has done for my life and love even more that I get to still be involved and give back.
9. Yoga and all my lovely yogis.
10. Music – and getting to share my love of music with others.
11. Fun little dresses and having parties to go to all dolled up.
12. And most of all…YOU!!!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Let Freedom Ring…

Happy Fourth of July, my loves!  Hope you are having a fabulous day celebrating however you chose (though hopefully, safely) today.  Whether that is at a lake or the beach playing in the sun, the golf course playing 18, or hiding out in the AC laying low – I hope you find yourself feeling blessed and thankful today.  For my lovely friends not in the US, I hope you are still having a fabulous day even if today is not a holiday for you!

Going North…

It has almost been a year since I last headed north to my hometown, Duluth, but that is where I am today.  I am only here for a short trip but it gives me some girl time with my sister and mother.  It is not something we do often, but when we all manage to find a day where the three of us are free it is so worth making the effort.  We by no means are normal, and one of us (more often all of us…) tend to attract some sort of attention when we are in public together, but that always makes for fun stories and laughs later.  So loves, I best be off…I need to go put my toes in the lake (Lake Superior that is) and frolic on the beach (yes, we have a real beach with sand).

Just a Thought…

Gift Guide {Our Beautiful Mothers}…

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, so brainstorming the perfect gift to show a little appreciation for my mother has begun.  This may be the first Mother’s Day in years, and maybe I dare even say ever, that I am excited to get my mom something.  This last year has been amazing for us – a complete 180.  We both acknowledge that we cannot make-up the last 16 years, but at least we can work with what we have now.  It has been such a gift to have her back and get to know her all over again.  I love you, Mom – and am excited to get you a sweet little treat!

Just a Thought…

Long Weekend…

A picture of the perfect long weekend if you ask me.  I cannot seem to get enough time at the coffee shop these days.  I said to a couple of my coworkers the other day I didn’t know if I needed the long weekend or if they needed me to have a long weekend more, but either way I am so thankful to have time away from the office (well…really away from the clinics…) and decompress some.  It has been glorious and I still have two days left to enjoy!  So, on that note…back to being refreshed!

Thankful…

Today, here in America, is a day dedicated to giving thanks.  Really, it is something I wish I did everyday – as I truly do have a lot to be thankful for every day.  Today, I am specifically thankful for the following things in particular…

Time with my family.  I know holidays are normal for people to spend with their family, but that has not always been the case for me – so today is really special to get to spend time with my mom, sister and grandma – truly a blessing I am not taking forgranted today.

Friends that have become family to me, especially in the years when family was not available.  I also get to spend time with them today and I am so excited.  Yes, that does mean I will be having two Thanksgiving meals!  An odd thing for a veggie you would think, but trust me those side dishes are so good, it is really a vegetarians dream come true.

An amazing readership and blogging community.  I truly have come to love this place.  To know that I have friends across the globe that bring so much beauty into my life.  Love you all and am so thankful for each of you!

Fashion that is keeping me warm today.  We all know by now that I do not love winter, snow, or the cold – but I do love boots and coats.  So, I am glad that I can still look chic even in the land of the tundra!  Simple thing, but I am thankful!

Five Loves…

A good suit coat, fedora and all around look inspired by menswear done with a feminine twist.  Have been loving this trend all fall long.

A sweet little kitty to hold and cuddle with and remind you that you are not alone.  That would be delightful right about now, but sadly my landlord does not feel the same way.

Time alone to read, journal and drink delicious coffee is truly priceless to me.  Thankfully, I have managed to find ways to sneak in more of that beloved time.

I am not sure what it is about this bedside table, but I love it.  Well, not the actual table itself, but the way such a basic table has been transformed to look beautiful with the accessories is amazing to me.

I love all the designers that we see represented in this one stunning image.  I am especially loving this dress and it is serving as inspiration as I go look for a new dress for a wedding, which is tomorrow.

Fall Out…

Well, loves, I have finally made it out of the city for a brief moment for a retreat.  It has been far too long.  I am up in the northland of Minnesota “roughing” it with some friends – do hope it is refreshing!
