Design Crush {Heidi Merrick}…

I cannot get enough of Heidi Merrick…especially the Spring 2012 collection.  She is a California native and had a father who was a surfer.  So, she may not be Australian, but there are still some similar trends between the two that serve as beautiful inspiration.  I want to own every piece of the collection for my whole summer wardrobe.  I keep getting drawn back in time after time…I guess that is what some would call love.  Either way, it is a full on design crush…it has been too long.

Lost & Found…

Sometimes I need some good rock to get me through the day.  One of my favorite go-to’s is The Black Crowes – seriously, I can never get enough of She Talks to Angels and they are amazing live.  They put on a great show.  Now, as of late, I have been loving Rich Robinson’s solo work – here is a sample, Lost and Found, from the Through a Crooked Sun album.

Sun Kissed…

What is the perfect summer accessory?!  A little sun kissed skin.  Everyone looks better with a little tan, not making yourself look orange or a leathery, but a healthy glow.  Whites, blacks, to bold colors – they all pop better on sun kissed skin.  On Monday night, I went out to dinner with friends and loved that summer glow that had already started.  Now, being from MN (though I do not have a drop of Scandinavian blood in me and do have some natural olive tone due to a little Native blood in me)…you have to ease into the tan.  We do not have enough sun around here year round to maintain the glow, so it is a process…a rather relaxing process I must say.

How do you feel about tanning?  Do you load up on the SPF or try to get a little sun kissed glow?

White Wash…

Summer season has officially been kicked off with Memorial Day weekend (even though technically we still have a few weeks until it is really summer…) and I am loving it!  There was some rain this weekend, but there was also a lot of sun and a lot of unexpected fun times with friends.  With the change of seasons, it also means it is time to embrace the white wash look – I mean who doesn’t like to wear white after getting a little sunkissed glow?!  Whether you consider it a summer trend or summer staple, whites are in this year.

A Memorial Event…

Happy Memorial Day, loves!  For those of you that get the day off, I hope you are enjoying the long weekend and kick-off to summer.  I know I sure am!  There is something about holidays like this that make me crave a good movie – and lets just say I cannot get enough of The Great Gatsby trailer.  It looks like it is going to be amazing – from the cinematography to the cast to director to the storyline itself – it is going to be an amazing work of art.  It comes out on Christmas Day, and I certainly will be there.  Alright, I am off to keep enjoying frolicking and not having a care in the world…

Just a Thought…

You Should Know By Now…

Yes, my loves, I am off to another wedding this fine Saturday.  I really do love getting dolled up and seeing people in love…or so I tell myself every weekend when the time roles around for another wedding!  I really do care for the friends and am thankful to get to be a part of each of their special days.  Today will also be a college reunion of sorts for us, and it also happens to be the five year anniversary of our college graduation…so you know, we are sorority gals, and we will make the most of this fabulous occasion!

Do you still get together with your friends from college for reunions?  How often?  What do you do?

Five Loves…

For the overcast spring days this is the perfect trench…and it matches her pumps perfectly.  Loving it.

A fort on the beach for the perfect Memorial Day picnic – is there even any question if I am in love with this idea?!  Needs to be done stat!

Having a long weekend means having more time to do the things I love, one which means curling up with a good book.  I love three day weekends (and even feels more like a four day since I am working from home today).

This is my kind of vanity.  I love the rustic feel, but I have no idea when I would actually make it (I hate cutting glass/mirrors…I have had issues in the past).  I love getting to look at interior spaces for inspiration as I plan my new space.

Such a carefree look that is perfect for this Memorial Day weekend.  I love when my look can match my attitude and this weekend is all about being free (well, minus the time I am at the wedding…but I am sure I will land on a dress that is more free spirit feel).

Mad Craving…

You know when you find yourself thinking about something that catches your eye and at first you are like, “Oh, I liked that…it would be nice to have…”  Then, you keep subconsciously thinking about it and finding yourself searching for it every store you go into?!  Yea, welcome to my mind as of late when it comes to a leather bomber.  They are so cute and I love the edge they add to a soft spring/summer look.  When you live in the land of the frozen tundra, it is always good to have a jacket with you for nights out on the town because sometimes that breeze comes out of nowhere.  And this year, I would like to have a little black leather bomber to be my go to jacket…

What is the current thing you find yourself constantly looking for right now to be the perfect piece?  Do you have any go-to places to always check first when looking for a specific piece?
