Girl Talk…

Off to brunch with some of my girlfriends from college.  I love when friends come in to town that have moved away because I get to catch up with her, but also some of the other fabulous ladies that I do not see very often – which means there will be lots of wonderful girl talk going on.  We will have a mom, a mom to be, a wife, and a single gal.  All spectrums covered – I think it will make for a fun conversation to say the least!  Then, tomorrow is another day full of girl time.  Brunch with a dear friend and then off to a bridal shower for a sorority sister.  I am so excited for all the time to spend with my lovely ladies.

Five Loves…

I love everything about this look.  It looks so comfortable, yet still so chic.  Look at that know – so functional for us short gals, but still so cute.  Win.

Yup.  I got another pair of TOMS.  What can I say – I love them so much.  Cute. Comfortable. AND for a good cause.

Pumphouse Creamery.  My favorite ice cream shop in Minneapolis, and maybe even in the world.  The most unique flavors (lavender being my favorite).  Whole wheat with flax seed cones that are to die for.  If you are ever in Minneapolis, this little shop on 48th and Chicago is a must – let me know if you are in town.  I would love to go with you!

Missing California.  Missing the ocean.  And wanting to go surfing.  Thus, I am stuck in Minnesota so I look at this picture because it makes me smile.  I’ll get back there again eventually.  I love it too much not to.

You are.  So please smile.  And also know that I love you so much – thank you for all the sweet wishes to feel better!  I am feeling a little better and planning to sleep in some tomorrow morning to give myself some good rest!

Perfectly Pink…

I have been feeling under the weather – it may be allergies, but it has felt more like the flu in July (not nearly as fun and exciting as Christmas in July, let me tell you…).  But, work has been busy so that means I am not staying home in bed resting.  One thing that has helped me feel more up to the challenge of work these days is wearing brighter colors to work – it keeps me more awake.  Specifically, pink has been the most uplifting color – it at least helps make me look awake!  Thankfully, I am not the only one loving pink these days.  I am embracing my girlishness and seeing that pink is perfect for me.  It makes everyone look alive and gives your skin a nice glow.

How do you feel about calling in sick to work?  Do you push through the sickness?  What is the best way you cover up looking sick?  Any quick tricks to getting better?

For the Summer…

So obviously I have been on a Basilica Block Party kick recently – does that ever happen to you?  After you go to a show you keep listening to the artist (or in this case artists) and relive the amazing live music?  Fall in love all over again with the artist and have new favorite songs?  I know I do – my roommates also get to enjoy this with me! 

One of my favorites, and for sure my favorite of Saturday night of the BBP was Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs.  I have been a fan of Ray for years now it seems – and my love for his art keeps growing year after year.  His voice does something to me – and I love it.  Hope you enjoy his soothing voice in this live performance of For the Summer.

Lets Be Friends…

There is a clear rise in the trend of friendship bracelets every where I look – and I love it.  I mean, I love covering my wrists with fun bracelets, so why not add a few more to share with friends, right?!  It was the cool thing to do when I was a little girl.  In fact, we would hang out and make them and swap them all the time – so why not be like every other trend and come back around for another round.  Now, I am not sure that my friends and I will have friendship making bracelet parities anytime soon – but you may catch me wearing a few of these from time to time.  I love the way they add some color to a look.

Yay or Nay {Vegan Leather}…

Now, I am sure off of that title there may be some confusion.  How on earth can there be vegan leather?!  That is an oxymorone.  Well, on of my personal favorite places to shop and get inspiration from, Free People, has made an exclusive line to make this possible.  It caught my attention.  I mean, I basically decided I couldn’t be a vegan because I love leather, too much…I mean, remember the purse…yeah, all leather.  Check out this video to learn more about what Free People is doing…

Color My Fancy…

They are everywhere – bright and bold denim.  I cannot get enough of it.  Now, it may be a little flashy for the more conservative office, but when has that really ever stopped me (oh wait…it hasn’t).  I am all about embracing a trend that helps me reflect my own personal style, and bright colored pants is aiding in that.  If you are not one to push the limits at the office, there is always the after work hours or time on the weekends.  I am telling you – there is something about putting on hot pink pants or sunshine yellow that just makes you smile and feel more cheerful.  And lucky for all of us, this trend which started in the spring has carried nicely into summer and is going to stay around for the fall, too.  Could this be the year bold colors become year round?!  How can you not help but have fun in this look?!  I mean just look at these ladies…

Just a Thought…

Show Time…

 

The month of July is all about going to shows for me of some truly amazing talented artists.  Tonight I am off to another – Trampled by Turtles.  So excited to see these guys from my home town.  The venue is outside, middle of the city with a little grunge to it – so I need to wear something I am okay getting a little dirty.  A look like this may be good for this banjo loving crowd.
